Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer, is a BIG holiday weekend in southeastern North Carolina. It marks the start of sun AND fun in the Wilmington area and the folks at River Bluffs, the Cape Fear area’s popular village community, are ready to celebrate!

4th Friday Gallery Night | Downtown Wilmington
This free, self-guided tour takes you to downtown Wilmington’s wonderful galleries, studios and art spaces featuring exhibitions of various artistic genres including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, photography, glass, metals, wood, ceramics, mixed media and more. Enjoy artist discussions, demonstrations, live music, wine, food and other traditional and nontraditional art-related activities.

Fireworks by The Sea | Carolina Beach Boardwalk
Kick off the weekend at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk! Enjoy food, fun and live music by Jack-Jack 180. When the sun sets, stick around for a spectacular fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean.

21st Annual Orange Street Artsfest | Downtown WilmingtonThe 21st Annual Orange Street ArtsFest is the largest arts festival in the Port City and features more than 80 artists, live entertainment and food from some of the area’s best restaurants – including Catch, Poor Piggy’s BBQ, North Carolina Sweet Tea, and Snowy of the Carolinas. 51st Annual Memorial Day Observance | Battleship NC
Remember those who gave their lives in service by honoring veterans at the Battleship NC’s traditional Memorial Day Observance. The hour long ceremony features a military guest speaker, an all-service Color Guard, a 21-gun salute by a Marine Corps Honor Guard, a military band, Taps, and a memorial wreath cast onto the waters of the Cape Fear River.
