Hello Residents,

Members in a few of the River Bluffs Clubs are planning some neighborhood activities for Labor Day, this Monday.

The activities are part of the following clubs (in alphabetical order) in collaboration for the first and possibly annual Monday Funday (thanks, Linda Emmerich for the title):

  • Boaters
  • Bullets and Bows
  • Foodies
  • Gamers
  • Helping Hands
  • Rock, Rhythm, and Blues
  • Water Volleyball

Activities offered will depend on your feedback and could span from morning to night depending on the level of interest. These will be minimal planning and drop in as you want, type of events. Please send an email to rconger53@yahoo.com indicating the number of the activity which you might have interest in, and any particular timing you may desire.

The following activities are possibilities
1. Kayak tours with separate sessions for beginners and experienced kayakers. We have some loaner kayaks available for those interested who do not have one themselves. Early morning when the river is the most beautiful. The definition of early morning would be somewhere between 7:00am and 9:00am.
– Mid-morning (10:00)
– Early evening (6:30)

2. Picnic lunches by the fire-pit and/or in the park. Porches will be closed. Each family can bring a dish and share with others (pot luck concept). An idea might be breads, and sandwich meats/fixings.

3. Games in the Park
– Bocce Ball
– Crockett
– Corn hole
– Ping pong / Beer pong
– Horse Shoes (segregated in a roped off area such that the active participants are the only ones in the area)
– Lawn Darts (segregated in a roped off area such that the active participants are the only ones in the area)
– Golf Frisbee contest
– Golf pitching wedge contest
– Water balloon fights
– Cards and Board Games at the tables by the fire-pit
– Shooting range (Soft and metal ball BB guns in a remote spot using a range built by the Helping Hands Club)
– Water Volleyball (likely 1-3PM)

4. Picnic dinner by the fire-pit. We can probably supply hamburgers and hot dogs cooked on the fire pit. Additionally, each family can bring a dish and share with others (pot luck concept).

Again, please communicate activities of interest by email to rconger53@yahoo.com. An example: We are most interested in 2, 3a,c,e, 4, 7 and 8.

Additionally
Members of the Distler Singers will play sometime during the day or evening. (members and times TBD).

We have some new residents, so some form of name tags could be welcomed. A suggestion is to make your own creative name tag (as in creative designs, not making up creative names, see example below). Pictures of the name tags can be posted to the Facebook site. An esteemed group of judges might be called to select a few winners and prizes of no monetary value might be given.

Sample Nametag:

I’m hoping a few photographers might capture some images of the day and post them on the Resident Facebook site or send them to rconger53@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Resident & Club Manager
