Good evening residents,

We can all count our blessings as the worst of hurricane Irma stayed well to our south and we only had to endure a few hours of heavy rain. A few updates on the past week for you to review. This week’s update will be a little shorter than usual as our Sales and Development team had to leave early today in order to find our egos…………….more on that later.

Development Updates

The final bit of sewer work is about done on White Cliffs. It involved the alleyway connections and we were waiting on the CFPUA to give final approval before those connections could be made. The roadway has been graded and rolled but I would still ask that you not drive vehicles on it yet as we have some work to do just before the boat ramp and there is still a lot of equipment in the area. We will begin rocking and installing curb and gutter next week, starting with the hill going down to the ramp as that area carries a lot of water. Within the next two weeks all the roadways should be rocked and passable by vehicles.

Despite the weather, traffic was good this week at the Sales Center and we got quite a few leads from our presence at the Wilmington Boat Show last weekend. Another garden home went under contract this past week and work is progressing on the foundations for the next two garden home buildings. Legacy Homes has submitted plans for their two new houses on Lots 120 and 52 and Herrington has also submitted plans for Lot 50.

There will be a luncheon next Tuesday in Rosewood Landing for Wilmington area Realtors and we will be showcasing Premier Homes. Look for an e-mail on Monday regarding some roads being blocked off for a couple of hours on Tuesday. You will still be able to come and go at will, we may just have you going a different way.

Several of you have asked about aphids on the crape mrytles throughout the property and Yardnique checked on them today and will be spraying for them next week.

Amenities Update

The meeting we had hoped to have with the multi use room contractors this week will be held on Monday of next week and we will have a final contractor selection by Tuesday. Highland Paving is trying to get to our paving at the amenity area and we still hope to see them in the next week. When the work on the roadway to the boat ramp is completed, we will also be putting in a cart path to one of the river parks and that should be done in the next week to ten days.

A reminder that the pool will be closing at the end of October, in accordance with the requirement of the New Hanover County Health Department. Can’t believe we are already to that part of the year.

Neighborhood Safety

Please remember to lock your vehicles at all times, as well as the entrances to your garage. This is the best deterrent. The Neighborhood Watch meeting we had scheduled for September 28th will most likely be rescheduled at the request of the Deputy from the Sheriff’s Department and we will let everyone know as soon as we confirm the date.

Community Activities

Farmer’s Market-Farmer Steve will be selling fresh produce on the front porch of Porches tomorrow from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. Please stop by if you get a chance.

Live Music at Porches- The Baby Boomers are playing tonight and on Sunday afternoon the band Overtyme will be returning (with their three person group this time) and playing from 3:00-6:00 pm.

Camber Drive Block Party- The Garden Home residents of Camber Drive are hosting at block party on Sunday, October 8th at 2:00 p.m. The event is open to all residents and there will be food, music and an exciting time for all. There is a flyer posted in the Mail Center and that will also be distributed via the portal on Monday.

Water Volleyball Smackdown- Ok……….we got smoked! In the interest of resident relations our team got blown out yesterday. In all seriousness, I have spent the day evaluating the hiring criteria for our new Sales Team…………

Ok, no more joking now. Last night’s event was a lot of fun and I want to echo the thanks that several of you expressed via e-mail today to Pat and Ritt Schiano for introducing such a great activity to our neighborhood. We had a great time and we look forward to this becoming an annual event.  It was an honor to be asked to be part of the neighborhood activity that has grown so much over this summer.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and thank you again for making the decision to live in River Bluffs. As always, please feel free to reach out anytime.

Regards,
John Lennon
