Thank you for the large response of desires to be on the four committees associated with upcoming HOA activities. Since we received more volunteers than our target maximum size for committee effectiveness of three to four members, we used multiple criteria to select members. In addition to members, each committee has names of “associate members†whom can be used as resources for input and to vet ideas prior to communicating with all River Bluff residents.
The following is a sampling of the criteria used to select members of each committee:
1. Spread the participation throughout the neighborhood.
2. Each resident will be on only one of the four committees.
3. Utilize existing resident expertise.
4. Represent diversity of thoughts in the committees (where volunteer thoughts were known).
One of the “Consulting Committee to the Board†members will steward each of the committees and will contact members soon after the start of 2018 to kick off the efforts of the committee. Descriptions of each project, the objective of the committees and list of committee members, committee associate members and committee steward are below:
Multi-purpose room above the exercise room:
This almost 2,000 square foot area will be finished off and available to residents for club activities, exercise such as yoga, and rentals for private parties sponsored by residents. This committee will be very active during the next two months with follow-up activities later next year. The committee will propose layouts of the floor plan to service the River Bluff clubs and other activities planned for the room. The committee will interface with the developer and contractor on the construction plans and with club managers, the Handyman’s Club and the Helping Hands Club to identify, obtain or build items such as bookcases, island(s), ping pong table, etc.
Committee Steward: Elsie Freund
Committee Members: Jhansi Kadasamy, Felicia Grant, Linda Emmerich, Donna Bost
Associate Members: Tina Chawick, Kelly Good, Becky Hyman
Greeters hours for the guard house:
Following the vehicle break-ins during the summer the greeter hours were extended to include 24-hour coverage during the weekend. The developer covered the additional cost. Since that time no significant events have occurred and a community watch program has been implemented.
This committee would work during December-January to evaluate our community desire for greater coverage beyond the normal twelve to sixteen hours per day. The committee will work with the neighborhood watch leads, Bill Jayne and Felicia Grant and the developer in order to determine if additional coverage is needed and if so, the financial impact. The committee will provide a summary to the residents such that a community decision can be achieved and communicated.
Committee Steward: Bob Conger
Committee Members: Will Grant, Randy Jayne, Otis White
Associate Members: Kelly Good
Neighborhood Farm planning:
This committee will take the 3 years of accumulated experience with the neighborhood farm combined with direction and supervision from Stephen Douglass, the farmer, to develop new and exciting options for the maximization of almost ten acres of farming land. Examples of items for consideration are sections for continued farming, greenhouse, perennial crops such as blueberries, grapes etc. and the possibility of offering plots to residents or clubs.
Committee Steward: Bob Conger
Committee Members: Kelly Good, John & Kathy Distler, Cal and Bobbi Beasley
Associate Members: Don Kohler, Ron Gramlisch, Leon & Susan Rooks
Additional Park amenities and locations:
As the number of residents and business at Porches grows the developer is considering plans for additional community gathering spots. This committee would consider the locations and contents (firepit, bocce court, etc.). Four potential locations for preliminary thought will be provided to the committee. A prioritized list of locations and plans will be reviewed with the development team.
Committee Steward: Lori Nicholls
Committee Members: Tina Chadwick, Bill Holmes, Patty Cullen, Barb Kohler
Associate Members: Kelly Good, Bill Jayne, Linda Emmerich, Becky Hyman, Ron Gramlisch
Comments received from residents as input to the committees have been consolidated and will be provided to each committee.
