Residents,

For those of you who did leave for the storm, we urge you to stay safe where you are and do not yet attempt to return. The storm has caused flooding of the major highways, and it is making it impossible for anyone to travel in or out of the city.

Due to the flooding, gas and provisions are running low in the area as well as supplies cannot make it to the area. It will take time to clean up the area once the flooding subsides and for public safety officials to declare the major roads safe to travel on. We will post updates as we receive them, we are also posting city updates through our Facebook.

IMPORTANT: There is a downed power line that was tangled within trees and has falled across Chair Rd. This is blocking access to and from the community. Do not attempt to drive over this; the line may still be active. Only 4-wheel drive vehicles have been able to successfully maneuver around it due to the soft ground.

The City of Wilmington is posting updates on their non-emergency line: 910.798.6800. If you are in need of emergency assistance, please call 9-1-1.

The community is currently without power and internet.

Residents who are in the community right now – if you have a way of receiving this message and are in need of emergency assistance and do not have access to a phone the following residents have radios and the defibrillator.

People with Radios & the Defibrillator:

  • Otis White – 365 Cornubia
  • Dave & Kim OBannon – 206 Camber Dr.
  • Chris and Jackie Niedermayer – 408 Jenoa – They also have the defibrillator

We will begin working as hard as we can to get help to rectify these issues as soon as we can with the help of vendors and emergency crews.

Thank you,

Megan Mabe
