Residents,

Below is an update on the community and overall state of the community following the storm.

Out of Town Residents
Those of you who left for the storm, at this time we urge you to remain where you are. The power company has not yet given us a date for the restoration. We are hoping that we are close in line. However, we have heard that other places in the area have dates for restoration out to September 26th. We did receive news that part of the River Bluffs neighborhood has regained power, but not everyone at this point.

Access
The city is still mostly inaccessible with flood waters peaking over the major highways. The crest is supposed to peak today, and then the waters will slowly recede. The roadways may not be safe on the way into town. Sinkholes have appeared along routes into town, and the routes that are open are limiting traffic so that emergency supplies and rescue teams can have the priority.

You will see in this photo below, crews are having to use restricted two-lane roads to try to get to coastal cities. For this reason, they are encouraging those who are not yet back in the area, to stay where you are so these vehicles have road priority. You will see the line of utility trucks trying to access coastal towns behind this news reporter taken in Lumberton this morning. Traffic was moving at 10 MPH.

Access to Chair Rd – The fallen power line is still blocking the road. A makeshift path was set-up in the last couple of days, this allows cars to go around the fallen pole if they drive very slowly.

Clean-up
Clean-up teams made great progress yesterday, and we plan to continue the clean-up of the common areas and amenities. More crews will be arriving near the end of the week.

Complete Tree Service has been working onsite already, and many residents have been contacting them to get on their list for clean-up. If you are out of town, you can call them to assess your property and share necessary clean-up information for your property with you. Here is the contact information:

The Townhomes – Mr. Berg has reported that there are trees down between and behind 205-207 Camber Drive. 207 and 205 camber sustained gutter damage and 207 has a puncture/dent in the ridgeline of the roof. The HOA contact information is available below.

Safety
We ask that you stay off of the Riverwalk. The volume of water it has undertaken was substantial, and it needs time to recover, it is not safe to walk on right now.

The Good News
There is good news that comes out of this storm. Neighbors assisted neighbors throughout the worst of the weather, and we are so proud to be among neighbors that help each other when in need. Thank you to those who had the radios and the defibrillator on hand.

The neighborhood did not flood, so for those of you who have not been back, we wanted to ensure you know that we did not flood. The 25′-30′ riverbank protected the community in that regard.

Porches – Porches will remain closed to the public until the staff can return to the area safely and we can get more supplies. Allister and Karen have been working to serve some food at Porches on a very limited schedule, serving residents only, and neighbors have been helping with clean-up within the restaurant, etc. Porches has a built-in generator so the food that we have has been preserved and we are just using up what is there. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!

The Pajama Party has been canceled until further notice. For those of you have purchased tickets, we will honor those for the new date, and if you are unable to attend, we will be offering refunds.

Sales Center
The Sales Center will remain closed until the power is restored.

Thank you,

Megan Mabe
