Good afternoon,

Hurricane Michael is developing and continuing its progress toward Florida. The most recent reports seem to indicate that it will impact our region late Wednesday, into Thursday. The reports we have seen also indicate that it will turn northeast after making landfall and the Wilmington area is in the center of the current forecast cone. As with any weather event, those are only forecasts and they can change at a moment’s notice.

While rain and wind forecasts are lower than were forecast, and while the storm will weaken once over land in Florida, this is still a storm to be prepared for. While it is easy to be lulled into thinking that it “wont’ be as bad as what we just went through”, the prudent thing to do is to prepare just as you did for Florence.

  • Remove yard decorations and lawn furniture from outside your home. Anything that can become a projectile.
  • Go to the grocery store and the gas station tomorrow at the latest.
  • Assume that the power will go out sometime Wednesday night.
  • Check with your neighbors to see if they will be home or away.
  • Refer to the information on the portal from the Red Cross for other planning tips.

The forecasts will become a little more clear as we get into tomorrow and tomorrow night and we will continue to keep you updated. Crews went over the storm drainage system today throughout the property and will continue working to clear debris. We had planned to begin removing downed trees from vacant Lots this week but that is obviously delayed. Please let us know if you have any questions. We will reach out again tomorrow.
