Good evening,

Hurricane Michael has picked up speed and made landfall in the panhandle of Florida several hours ago. The National Weather Service is still projecting that it will pass slightly to our north sometime tomorrow during the day. The forecasted wind and rain seems to be working in our favor but it is still important to be alert and stay tuned to local forecasts tomorrow. Michael is a record setting storm and hurricanes don’t always follow the forecasted path.

The plan right now is for Scott to arrive at the front gate at 6:30 a.m. as normal. We will make a decision on tying the gates open once we see how the wind speeds are. Porches will be open for business at the normal time of 11:00. Additional River Bluffs staff will be here as well. If things change, we will update you all right away. Even though there will be staff on-site, please keep an eye on the catch basins around your home as there is still a lot of debris from Florence and we want to make sure the basins don’t get blocked. It is safest to assume that we will lose power at some point tomorrow but we will still be able to send out e-mails from the portal. Two-way radios have been distributed to the following residents and staff:

  1. Ritt Schiano Lot 135    500 Jenoa Drive  RITT ALSO HAS THE DEFIBRILLATOR WITH HIM
  2. Otis White    Lot 54      365 Cornubia Drive
  3. Lori Nichols  Lot 163L  216 Camber Drive
  4. Sales Center
  5. Greeter Shack-Scott will have a radio as well.
  6. John Lennon

The best thing to do tomorrow as the storm passes through is to stay inside. Please do not venture into the power line easement area as Duke Energy has begun work on moving the poles and there is a lot of equipment in the area. It is also not a good idea to visit the riverwalk or the marina. As I mentioned for Florence, keep in mind when you do go outside after the storm passes that everything that lives outside in our community will have been disturbed and will be generally unhappy.  If you haven’t already done so, please be sure to move light weight furniture and yard decor inside and make sure all of your windows are locked. The best news about the forecast is that Michael is projected to be gone by tomorrow night as it is moving so fast.

We will provide additional updates tomorrow as new information comes in. Have a good evening.
