Good afternoon,

Thanks to all of you who attended the meeting yesterday and I hope you have had an opportunity to implement your “pre” and “post” storm planning. If you still have items on your front or back porch I suggest you secure them by nightfall tonight as we will start to get some wind and rain late today. I’m not a forecaster so it’s not a good idea for me to try and estimate where the worst part of the storm will hit. The best thing for all of us to do is to make sure our planning and preparations are complete and assume that we all be on our own for several days. A lot of information here so please read this twice.

-Three residents have portable, hand-held radios at their homes. They can be utilized if cell phone service is lost and someone needs attention at their residence. Those residents are: Lori Nichols-216 Camber Drive (the garden home on the far left of the ones backing up to the power line easement), Greg Corbin-501 Jenoa Drive (close to the intersection of Jenoa and Haughton) and Otis White-365 Cornubia (at the intersection of Cornubia and Camber). Lori Nichols has the defibrillator at her house should an emergency arise. Her phone number is 571-274-7481. Additionally, if you are a medical professional who would be willing to assist in a medical emergency, please call Lori and let her know. Your names will not be shared with anyone and you will only be called upon in the case of a real medical emergency and if EMS is not able to respond.

-The front gates (both sets) will be tied in the open position beginning tonight. We are taking this step to protect the gates themselves and because we don’t when and if the power is interrupted. If there is an outage, the gates will remain tied open until power is restored. If the power does not go out, the gates will still remain tied open until winds drop to a safe speed. The builders in the community have been advised that they may not have anyone working on site tomorrow or Friday. They may have someone assess their respective job sites on Friday. Keep in mind with the gate open that everyone should be vigilant of vehicular traffic in the neighborhood. See something not right? Call 911.

-The tennis court and pickle ball area will remain locked and will be closed until at least Saturday. All of the pool furniture has been stacked away and the pool will remain closed until further notice (we need to be able to have the service company come and check chemicals etc prior to use).

-The boat and RV site will remain locked and the power goes out, you will not be able to gain entry. If you need something from your boat or RV, please go get it now. Please stay off the river bluffs and the river walk during the storm.

-Before the rain begins, check around your house to see where drains are. Whether they are specifically for you homesite or neighborhood catch basins. Only if safe to do so, it may be necessary for you to pull debris away from the drain during periods of heavy rain.

-Please remember that when the power goes out (as it most likely will), it’s not just River Bluffs that will be out but rather large parts of the region. There are already hundreds of linemen staged in our area to respond and we need to be patient.

-Porches (and the Sales Office) will be closed tomorrow and we will make a determination on Friday about reopening the restaurant or having the facility available as a relief center. More communication will come out on this late morning or early afternoon Friday. Our goal is to have the staff in place to open Friday night.

We will be sending out additional e-mails over the next several days and plan to keep you as informed as possible.  Stay safe dry and we will be back in touch.
