Good afternoon,

Hard to believe it is 2020! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season and enters the new year energized and excited about the growth of River Bluffs. Development activity continues on the southern portion of the property with the continuation of Cottage Park and the new “Mariner’s Watch Townhomes” sections. Interest in Cottage Park remains strong and we expect to have the first thirteen homesites gone by the end of February. The gas company is currently laying gas lines in the new sections of Cottage Park and we expect to record that section in the first quarter of this year. Sales in the rest of the community are strong as well and there are a number of new projects going in White Cliffs. In Rosewood Landing the next two buildings of garden homes on Jenoa Loop are sold and construction will begin on those at the end of this month.

Down at the marina you may have noticed some large barrels filled with water on new sections of floating dock. Those are meant to hold down the new dock sections which will house transformers for electrical service to the slips. The weight of the transformers required more buoyant floats and the barrels are there to hold down the dock so it doesn’t float unevenly before the transformers are set. In the next week you can expect to see a barge and excavator begin placing rip-rap along areas of the bluff and that work will continue until the end of the month. They were supposed to begin a month ago but as with most vendors these days, things are severely backed up.  Case in point, we are waiting on the revisions to the Pavillion at the marina to be approved and then will move straight to construction.

This weekend, on Sunday, you will see the New Hanover County Fire Department doing some ropes training just west of the overpass on Chair Road. They will have the inbound lane blocked for a couple of hours so please be careful as you go around them. In other community safety news, the local deer population has become extremely active again with the conclusion of hunting season so please be careful early in the morning as there are number of them that like to congregate around the front gate area.

Events

Local favorite “Dos Eddies” plays at Porches tonight beginning at 6:00 so please stop by and join your neighbors for a good time.

On Sunday we will have a monthly brunch beginning at 11:00a.m. Timeka and her crew will have an amazing menu and we hope you can join us. We plan on doing brunch once a month from here on out. If you haven’t had an opportunity to meet Timeka or Michael Mercer, our new General Manager, please stop by and introduce yourself.

As always, thank  you for your continued support of River Bluffs and Porches. We appreciate your confidence in the community and look forward to an exciting year to come.
