River Bluffs Update (January 2020)

For your information and input, this letter summarizes some upcoming activities of River Bluffs Clubs and solicits your feedback for improvements and for volunteers to become Club Managers.  Send your thoughts to Ken Kienas (kkienas@yahoo.com) by January 20th

The Club Managers of the 38 clubs listed on the Resident’s Portal will meet Saturday, January 25th in the CAR at 2:00 to collaborate on making a strong year of club activities in 2020.

The purpose of the Clubs (aka Forums and Groups) on the River Bluffs Resident’s Portal is to facilitate communications via announcements to residents interested in the activities of a particular club and to provide a repository, the Club Libraries, for documents important to the club.  These are Clubs, not Cliques.

The Club Manager, or Co-managers if a club has more than one manager, stewards club activities and has the authority to manage the club library and create and send news items to club members through the Resident’s Portal.

River Bluffs Update – Status of the River Bluffs Clubs (January 2020)

This is an update of the 38 River Bluffs Clubs to provide residents information for activities they might find interesting.  The beginning of the new year would be a good opportunity to log onto the Resident’s Portal and confirm that you are signed up for the clubs you want.

After logging into the Resident’s Portal, just click on “View All Clubs” on the left-hand side of page.

A list of all the community clubs will show up with a box on the righthand side of the page of each club.

  • A green box “√ Member” confirms that you are a current member.
  • Clicking on the club name will take you to the club page that contains more information about the club.
  • A gold box “Join Club” indicates that you can join the club by clicking on the box.
  • To Un-Join a club, one would go to “Edit Account” that is under “My Account”, select the “Clubs” tab and then click the box to the left of the club name.

First, we would like to canvas a last time for volunteers to become Club Managers for the following clubs that are currently dormant and need the little bit of leadership to become active:

  • Aviation Club (no members yet)
  • Community (17 members)
  • Drinks Please (73 members)
  • Drop on by (30 members)
  • Foodies Club #2 (40 members)
  • Movie Nights at Porches (41 members)
  • Rolling Wheels (20 members)
  • Volunteers for the Community (30 members)

We welcome volunteers to contact Ken Kienas (kkienas@yahoo.com) by January 20th.

    • The Club Manager, or Co-managers if a club has more than one manager, stewards club activities and has the authority to manage the club library and create and send news items to club members through the Resident’s Portal.
    • The club for Club Managers provides training and support for the 25+ Club Managers.
  • Clubs without at least one Club Manager will be removed from the list of clubs until a manager is identified.

Two Co-Managers provide flexibility for clubs that are lucky enough to have that level of volunteers.  The following clubs have one club manager and welcome volunteers to become a Co-Manager:

  • Foodies Club #1
  • History Club
  • Home Grown Club

Updates of all of the currently active River Bluffs Clubs

Two New Clubs Being Proposed to the Club Managers on January 25th

Plant Medicine and Natural Healing Club  (Chuck Ruckel)
Learn how to use foods and herbs as natural medicines. Learn how to read your bodies symptoms to know what you are needing to balance out your deficiencies. Become knowledgeable to help not only yourself, but your friends and neighbors to enjoy vibrant health and wellness.

Travel Club  (Ken Kienas)

There is a world to explore that is only limited by our imaginations.  The purpose of the club is to plan and participate in visits to locations that members are interested in seeing.  This could be a day trip to South Port to see the Oak Island lighthouse, a overnight to Asheville to visit the Biltmore Estate, or a sailing trip around the Caribbean to snorkel and swim in blue waters.  Members would meet on a regular basis to discuss, share knowledge, and plan trips.  It’s always more fun and cheaper to travel in a group.
