Good Morning,

I hope everyone had a productive week this week. It seemed to go pretty quickly but there are some updates on several things throughout the community. A glitch with the website and resident portal that occurred yesterday have been resolved and you should be able to utilize the portal. If you are unable to access, it, please clear your browser cache. Close the browser, then try logging in again.

Development Updates

Last week I mentioned that some of our team attended the Ideal Living Show in suburban Washington, D.C. While the crowds were not quite as large as they were for the same show in March, we had great activity at the River Bluffs booth and picked up eighty-six strong leads. It is interesting to see how the community’s reputation has grown this year with many of the folks we talked to during the show having heard about us through friends, the internet and of course Porches Cafe. We will have similar displays set up during this season’s Wilmington Symphony concerts and Wilmington Youth Symphony events. We are wrapping up September with seven contracts this month and traffic to the Sales Center remains strong with sixteen tours last week. BassBuilt started construction on Lot 73 today as I’ve mentioned before, several new homes will be starting in the next several weeks.

Work in White Cliffs has gone very well with a large portion of the roadway now rocked. Crews installed a section of pervious concrete on the roadway near where it enters into the boat ramp area. This concrete needs to remain undisturbed for a week so please be careful and walk around it should you go down that way. This week our Sales Team started reaching out to those who have reservations on some of the White Cliffs Lots and we will stay in touch with them as work nears completion.

Amenities Update

Highland Paving is scheduled to begin paving the amenities area on Monday and that work should not take very long. It will be followed by electric installation, landscaping and fencing work. Both t7he contractors who bid on the multi-use room have been asked to revise their bids to reflect the use of carpet tiles for the flooring as both brought up the issue of noise in the room if the floors remained solid. They are also bidding on structures for the covered portion of the Boat/RV area and should have their numbers back to us shortly.

Neighborhood Safety

As I mentioned last week, the Neighborhood Watch meeting will be held next Thursday evening at Porches at 7:00. This will be a great opportunity to get together as a neighborhood and work towards preventing future issues. As always, please be sure to lock your vehicles and don’t hesitate to call 911 should you see anything out of the ordinary.

On a related note, Chair Road has now been repaved and while the temptation to “test” the shiny new pavement is high, please remember that families with children live on that road and the speed limit remains forty-five miles per hour. If you see any subcontractors driving erratically, don’t hesitate to let Ron or Scott know and we will communicate with the builders. Thanks for your help on this.

Community Activities

Farmer’s Market – Stop by and see Farmer Steve tomorrow from 10:00am to 2:00pm on the front porch of Porches. If you haven’t been up to the farm lately you should stop by and see the progress Steve and his son Ian have made with new plantings and preparing the high tunnel for its cover.

Live Music at Porches – “The Motos” will be performing at Porches this Sunday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and we hope you can join us. The evening music is catching on as we have been approached by three other bands over the last week about getting them on the schedule.

Camber Drive Block Party – The Garden Home residents of Camber Drive are hosting a block party on Sunday, October 8th at 2:00pm. The event is open to all residents; there will be food, music and an exciting time for all. There is a flyer in the Mail Center with additional information.

Box Tops – Otis White has started a Box Tops campaign for Wrightsboro Elementary. As you know it is located in the heart of Wrightsboro and serves families throughout our area, including students from our neighborhood. Box Tops for Education provides cash for teachers to use to enhance learning in their classrooms. On many of the products, you purchase these symbols appear. Products such as cereal, paper goods, butter and crackers often have these valuable coupons (worth 10 cents each!). This is free money to us and for the school!

Otis has placed a collection box in the library area of the Post Office for you to drop your Box Tops for Education into. Working together we can turn a few cents into many dollars to help support our community and our children. Thanks for your support! Have a great weekend and enjoy the cooler weather. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or need additional information.
