Good afternoon,

Think for a moment how much our daily life has changed since my update of Friday. Each day brings new guidances, new protocols and new issues. The good news is that most of the people in our region and in our neighborhood are heeding the advice of professionals and limiting physical contact with others and practicing good hand washing.

As you may have heard earlier today, Governor Roy Cooper ordered that all restaurants and bars discontinue dine-in service effective at 5:00 this afternoon. As difficult as that decision was for us, he also included provisions to help give the affected employees financial relief during this unforeseen downturn. We closed Porches this afternoon at 3:00 and do not plan on reopening dine-in service until the Governor indicates that it is permissible to do so. Our plan is use the next couple of weeks to clean and paint the restaurant and prepare to reopen better than ever. We may evaluate whether or not it makes sense to consider delivery or carry-out service after we finish the painting but it would require significant sales volume for that to make sense.

Scott and Ron will continue to work the front gate and the Sales Center will remain open. That said, please remember that given the social distancing guidance, it is best to call or email us before coming to the office. Also remember that the most recent government guidances discourage gatherings of ten or more people. Everything I have read seems to indicate that the more we adhere to these guidances, the more likely we are to shorten the time we are all impacted. Thanks again for your continued support of the community and please feel free to email us with any questions.
