Good afternoon,

Fall and winter are having a hard time deciding if they want to stick around but I’m guessing they are here to stay for the next few days. The dry, brisk air makes for great walking and enjoying your outside spaces so enjoy a beautiful weekend. Here are some quick updates on a number of community issues.

  • The CSX bridge over the Northeast Cape Fear River is down until December 16th for repair work. It will not be raised (even in emergencies) between now and then. I contacted the Coast Guard this afternoon and they confirmed this. This was certainly news to us. Please keep that in mind if you plan to venture downtown by boat on the river. I was told there is six feet of clearance at mean high water, but don’t know that for sure.
  • The Association’s annual meeting will be held on December 15th, 2021 via Zoom. You will be receiving additional information about this in the next week or so and we are making sure that everyone will be able to log on this year. There will be a number of important issues discussed and I encourage you to attend.
  • Several people have inquired about the stakes near the power line easement, heading down to the bridge that leads to the marina. It has always been contemplated that there would be seven or eight Lots backing up to the common area that runs from the entrance to Cottage Park to the river (aka Jurassic Park) and the stakes you see are part of the process of laying out the access road to those Lots. Golf carts and walkers will still be able to walk across the bridge to the marina and there will be common spaces along the way.
  • The Holiday Golf Cart Parade is scheduled for December 18th and there will be more information forthcoming about this.
  • Don’t forget to bring your Toys For Tots donation to either the Sales Office or the General Store. This community has a tremendous history of toy donations over the years and I’m sure we can keep it up.
  • The River Bluffs Blood Drive (coordinated by the American Red Cross) is December 3, 2021 and you can learn more about it here: River Bluffs Blood Drive.
  • The Sales Office will be closed next Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Scott will be off on Thanksgiving Day and back at the gate on Friday.

Thank you all for your continued support of River Bluffs and have a great weekend.
