Good afternoon,
Since the announcement of the closing of the General Store there has been a tremendous amount of Monday Morning Quarterbacking about everything from what should happen to the space to how the store operated. Mike and Julie Orr invested their time and money into the General Store and their efforts should be applauded. Instead of asking others to make an investment, they stepped up and did it themselves.
River Bluffs Development Corporation owns the building where the General Store is located and has been working with the Board (and will continue to) since we learned of the pending closure. Many of you have sent emails with ideas and suggestions about the future of the space and we welcome that and are making note of every one of them. Some have chosen to make comments about the donation of the building or about how “when they bought there was a restaurant or a store”. These are not helpful, don’t recognize the economic calamity of the last two years and don’t impact any part of the decision making process.
We are at least two months away from the “next chapter” for the General Store space as it will take some time to get things out of the building and finalize their exit. When we, with input and consultation from the Board, make a decision about the future of the space we let the community know. As the community continues to evolve and grow, it is likely that things will change again and again. With the addition of Phase 4 coming later next year, we have roughly 190 homesites to sell so we’ll be here for a while.
Please feel free to email me directly if you have any questions, john@riverbluffsliving.com. Thanks for your continued support of River Bluffs.
